GRE percentiles by field of study

ETS publishes score data broken down by intended field of study, and the differences are significant. Engineering applicants, for example, average much higher quant scores than humanities applicants, so a 160 quant is less impressive in an engineering pool. Look up the scores by field in ETS's GRE score interpretation tables, and compare against your target programs' medians.
