We determine "equally competitive" scores by finding where your score falls in the ranking of admitted-student averages at 48 top MBA programs, then looking up what the other exam's score is at that same position. This is more meaningful than percentile matching because the GRE and GMAT test-taking populations are very different — a 50th-percentile GRE Quant score (160) is the floor for top-15 MBA programs, while a 50th-percentile GMAT total (565) falls below every school on this list.

Q-heavy programs (Tepper, Scheller, Olin, Foster) have admitted-student Quant averages 3–5 points above their Verbal averages. If you're targeting these schools, aim higher on Quant.
GRE submission at top MBA programs has roughly doubled since 2017, with schools like Haas (56%), Tuck (54%), and Fuqua (48%) now seeing nearly half their class submit GRE scores.
