What is a Numeric Entry question on the GRE?

Numeric Entry is a quant question format where you type your answer into a box instead of choosing from multiple-choice options. There are no answer choices to eliminate or guess from, so you need to solve the problem completely. Some Numeric Entry questions ask for a fraction (two boxes: numerator and denominator). These questions are scored the same as multiple choice — no partial credit, no penalty for wrong answers. They appear in both Quant sections and make up a small portion of the 27 quant questions.
