GRE FAQ › GRE vs GMAT
What changed on the GMAT? (current format)
The current GMAT — sometimes called the GMAT Focus Edition — launched in late 2023 with major changes. It dropped from four sections to three: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights. Geometry was removed entirely from Quant. Sentence Correction was removed from Verbal, replaced by a heavier emphasis on Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. The new Data Insights section combines data analysis with multi-source reasoning. Total testing time is about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The scoring scale changed too — the total score now ranges from 205 to 805. You can also choose the order of the three sections.
